Jack the Ripper

The name of this little puppy sounded like "Dzhaiz", or something similar ...

Our translator Alta (in the picture) and our driver Sukhe had gone to visit this family the evening before, and when we went there together the next day, Alta said, "The most cruel dog is the baby dog!" The other dog of the family was the timid Bawgai, whom we had already met, so I assumed it wouldn't take much to outdo him in "cruelty" ...

But this little beast was chained to a peg in the ground, and kept barking and growling in a most fearsome and ferocious way. Only the mother in the family seemed to be allowed to touch him, but towards everyone else he was extremely distrustful. The son of the family only had to hold out the tip of his boot inside of Dzhaiz's reach, and the little baby dog would angrily jump at the boot and bite it.

I don't think there necessarily was any childhood trauma involved for Jack the Ripper, as Mihai started calling him. Some dogs just have a very distrustful personality, and thus make quite good guard dogs.
